My mom wants to get in crypto

Hi! I'm relatively new to crypto currency (in fact I joined this subreddit like 15min ago) and I'm here to ask for your help. Here's my story.

In my household, my father provides for our family. My mother used to have a job but stopped working to take care of me and my brothers and since my father is overseas all the time working.

On the last couple of weeks my mom's been a bit down because she doesn't want to be financially dependent of her husband and wants to contribute to our savings. Last week she went to have dinner at some friends place and they suggested she started messing around with crypto currency since it could be fun and maybe even bring out some profit, so she asked me for help starting out on this new adventure.

Now I guess my question is... How do I deal with this situation? I have no idea how this market works or how to even start. Is there a specific currency that you can recommend for her? Like a simple and stable one she can invest, mine and have fun with? She is really committed to this, she's even searching around for a new PC to mine bitcoin on (I've read that that's not a good idea).

I've read some things online and searched around a bit already but I feel kinda lost. This is a crazy world with a lot of nuances and complicated topics my peasized brain can't grasp. I need your help so that me and my mom can make the right decision.
