Do you keep BTC/ETH on layer 1 or layer 2? Why?

With all of the layer 2s out there for eth, does it make sense to have funds in layer 1 or 2? Layer 1s should be the most secure layer but is layer 2 sufficient already? Is the security on layer 1 and 2 the same between zksync and eth for example?...
